All Major Driving School Segment 2 packages include the required guidelines set forth by the state of Michigan. Students are enrolled in 6 classroom hours and a final test. Segment 2 is only a 3 day class and does not include any on the road training.
Any teenager who has completed segment 1 and held a level 1 license for 3 months with at least 30 hours of logged driving hours (with at least 2 of those being at night) is eligible to enroll in Segment 2.
No. At this stage in the Graduated Drivers Licensing (GDL) Program, students do not recieve any additional permissions after completing segment 2.
After completing Segment 2, the student will need to log and accumulate 50 hours of driving with at least 10 of them being during the night. Once the student has had their level 1 license for 6 months, and have completed Segment 2, they are eligible to take their road test. Upon turning 16 and passing their road test, they will be issued a level 2 license and be able to drive unsupervised except between the hours of 10pm & 5am. After the teen turns 17 & has held their level 2 license for at least 6 month, and are violation free, they will then carry a level 3 license and be able to drive at any time, unsupervised.
